The Northside Nottingham Jazz Band are a flexible Nottingham Jazz Band also available for bookings in Derby, Chesterfield, Newark, Mansfield and surrounding areas.
We play for private functions as well as pubs and restaurants around Newark, Lincoln and Nottingham. The quartet are often booked as ‘background music’ for weddings or in restaurants and we’re not offended by it! We take pride in being able to blend into the background, becoming a part of the ambience, rather than a focal point.
We can offer a number of different set options:
- One draws inspiration from the 30’s and 40’s, the ‘golden age’ of jazz: Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra and other great singers and instrumentalists. We also play songs from the classic musicals of the first half of the 20th Century that make up the majority of what we now know as standards.
- Another is a 20’s era set, focusing on dixieland numbers that have become popular once again through movies such as ‘The Great Gatsby’.
- Another is a jazz-funk set, playing cool tunes from Herbie Hancock, Eddie Harris, Chick Corea and others.
We’re also experienced at playing for dancing, for which we recommend a larger band. We can offer a number of jazz band configurations, starting with a vocal led trio and ranging up to a septet for dancing. For more information, see our options page.
